An eight-part series on the history of both John Cage&#8217;s conception of silence and the four pieces that he considered to be silent:\u00a0<em>Silent prayer<\/em> (1948),\u00a0<em>4? 33?<\/em> (1952),\u00a0<em>0? 00?<\/em> (1962), and\u00a0<em>One<sup>3<\/sup><\/em> (1989).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/rosewhitemusic.com\/piano\/writings\/radio-happenings\/\">On the Cage\/Feldman <em>Radio Happenings<\/em><\/a>. A series of blog posts\u00a0about the <em>Radio Happenings<\/em> shows of 1966\u20131967, over four hours of conversations between John Cage and Morton Feldman broadcast on WBAI in New York. It covers the history of these shows, including the story of how I rediscovered them twenty years after their initial broadcast.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Opening the door into emptiness\" href=\"http:\/\/rosewhitemusic.com\/piano\/writings\/cage-spirituality\/\">Opening the door into\u00a0emptiness<\/a>.\u00a0This is a series of blog posts that trace\u00a0the path that John Cage followed in the 1940s and early 1950s. This is journey was\u00a0both spiritual and musical, and it led\u00a0ultimately to the turning point in his musical career: his adoption of chance operations in 1951.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/rosewhitemusic.com\/cage\/texts\/glimmering.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Something like a hidden glimmering&#8221;<\/a>: John Cage and recorded sound.\u00a0This is a study of John Cage&#8217;s use of recorded sound in his music.
